On T1 variation tab, do you mean 0.6 pre_zscale instead of 0.6 zscale? Because that seems to look more like your result.

I just put 0 for zscale and 0.6 for pre_zscale and it worked!

I don't know what's happening, but my 15C just makes up really small renders of the flame, I have to go into full zoom to be able to see them, and this zoom delays my previewing and slows my computer a lot. Anyone can help me here?

You should generally scale instead of zoom. Zoom will slow you down; scaling will do almost the same thing, but without the system lag :)

You should use scale instead of zoom~ Zoom takes up a lot of resources the further you zoom in; Scale is much faster and doesn't reallyaffect display much.

This is an amazing tutorial. But I would like to inform you that this will not work very well with the new version of Apophysis 7X so I think you should see to that. Regardless lovely tutorial.  This is what I made with it. doodler0305.deviantart.com/art…

Use pre_zscale instead of zscale. That fixes it right up.

Does anyone know what tweaks are necessary for this to work better in 15C? I can get pretty close by adding Flatten=1 to the first transform, but then everything is flat except for the central "gem". I also had to increase my gamma in render settings. These 2 things where the only way to get mine to look anything like the second picture in the tutorial. I believe this change in 15C is causing some issues...

"Changed all variations which were in Apophysis before so that they are 3D-aware. This means that all variations PRESERVE the z-position of their points instead of resetting it to zero like before. Your 3D parameters likely need tweaking HOWEVER I added some code in the loader which should automatically "fix" most of the parameters. BE AWARE THAT PARAMETERS SAVED WITH 7X ARE LIKELY TO BE INCOMPATIBLE WITH THE 3D HACK FROM NOW ON!"

Looking forward to giving this a try. Just curious, how do you gauge which color scheme to use for a best view with a wide color palette? I've been noticing that most of my flames are tending to default to just a couple of colors (at most three) and I vary the color speed, hue, and even vibrancy with mostly the same colors. I've thought about using the rainbow gradients with hard lines but I don't want to have so many colors especially when I bring the speed up to over 0.5. If you have any ideas or suggestions (and I have used some of the tuts for changing colors) I would be extremely grateful. Great job on the tut though and I always love it when you make more. :huggle:

What you want to do is go to the "Flame" menu and click "Calculate Colors" and that should fix it up

I think zscale on T1 has to be -0.6!

Yes! Thank you so much. I was so confused as to why I was getting what looked like a holographic projected fractal, with a light cone coming up from the bottom. Changing zscale on T1 to -0.6 FIXED IT!

You beast! :D

How do they achieve the more solid colored gem that doesn't have the transparency that I seem to come up with?? :D

I had the same issue and increasing gama seemed to be the most helpful tweak.

The transparency really depends on few factors - the weight for hemisphere xfrom, the bigger the more visible
Also the amount of Pre_blur, more blur more solid
The angle in 3d effects the solidity as well, apo 3d does show the transparency better, closer to 2d, flatter angle will give you solid.
