Fantastic Fractalicious Fractals issue 14The first issue of this year! This time I want to present some of the coolest fractals from 2011, it was really difficult to pick out some faves of the year, you are too good!!! But first, a short resume of last year's happenings.
What happened last year?
Pretty lot! There have been fractal circles with tweaking fractals around, both in the group :#fractalcircles: and ponging parameters in :#aposhack: , Light `SuicideBySafetyPin introduced us for the Inspiration station, the fractal flash mob, a collective feature of different artists. *heavenriver has her UF challenge going on http://heavenriver.deviantart.com/journal/Ultra-Fractal-monthly-Challenges-Redux-Vol-12-277027446 and `f--l--A--r--k has his Apo challenge http://fav.me/d4l1fc6 and it would be great if we could keep up supporting them! The first news with Rocking Fractals went over very well - and I got many comments from non-fractal artists, saying they really enjoyed it.
And since fractal art is still in the 'underdog' category getting folks on dA more familiar with it, sounds grand to me.
I would love to get you familiar with few artists - some new, some not so new and a nice mixed-smoothie of fractal works flowing to the gallery on regular bases and that will mean "Fractals that ROCK" is here to stay and give you updates on newest finds and excellent compositions and visions - Enjoy !!

2011 BMFAC News UpdateBMFAC winners published in print magazine!
The 25 winners of the Benoit Mandelbrot Fractal Art Contest were contacted in mid February to supply large format files of their winning images and also a short bio explaining their interest in fractal art, software used and general information about their work if they chose to do so. We were also informed that the first exhibit would be held in Logroño, in Northern Spain. Javier Barrallo, a Professor of Mathematics at The University of the Basque Country, Spain and also one of the panelists for the BMFAC was our contact for this. The current exhibit will be in the Casa de la Ciencia (House of Science), in Logroño, the Capital city of RIOJA until June 10th. I'll post a few pictures Javier sent further down. Javier also says he will send more pictures soon.

Fantastic Fractalicious Fractals # 15Did you miss the series? I have missed it too, but I thought it would be a good idea to have a break from it until I found some inspiration again. You guys never stop to amaze me, I get new and fresh works, journals and tutorials in my inbox every day, and now I thought I should share it with you. First some news from DA's fractal corner.

FFF series issue 13You wonder what's with the weird title? Yep, I thought I should submit with sta.sh instead of my journal, and of course, it was the famous 30 character limit again. Nevermind, I've heard that it will change soon. I'm back again with the series. And from now on, the series will come out semimonthly instead of each week. Welcome to my new series : "From Resources to Fractal Art".
What is really interesting in the fractal community, is the way deviants interact between each others to share their knowledge with tutorial or Parameters Pong (Sharing Parameters to tweak the main fractals).
Therefore, in this article I'm going to select a resource randomly and show you how to start from a tutorial to achieve a wonderful fractal.
This week, let's take a look at `lindelokse tutorial : Apophysis 3D Blooms Tutorial
This tutorial is an evolution of her first tutorial about 2D blooms.
